As we culminate the highlights from the Fashion Capitals series on the blog, we wanted to take the opportunity to go over two major trends that you can easily incorporate into your fall wardrobe. Read on to see the looks from Europe and Deb’s picks for fashion inspiration!
Quilting is no longer relegated to overly stuffed, cold weather parkas…quilting is emerging as a strong design dimension for all season jackets, vests, dresses and bags! Diamond, channel and signature quilting looks add “textural pattern” to otherwise flat surfaces employing feather light weights of pile or down between fabric layers.
Sonia Rykiel Quilted Skirt | Alexander Wang Velvet Trimmed Embellished Satin Mini Skirt | Moschino Quilted Backpack | The Case Factory Quilted Leather iPhone 6 Case | Tory Burch Quilted Ballerinas | Stella McCartney Quilted Mini Faux Brushed Leather Backpack | Moncler Combo Zip-Front Jacket | Uniqlo Ultra Light Down Compact Quilted Jacket
Fringe is bigger than ever spurred on by the emergence of Cowboy Wear and Boho Chic…both directional trends for fall! Look for self to applied fringe for skirts, vests, jackets, blouses, bags and boots in fabric or leather/suede!
Bruno Cucinelli Fringe Vest | Ermanno Scervino Large Fringe Tote Bag | Thakoon Addition Fringed Hem Sweater | Oscar de la Renta Knotted Fringe Detail Blouse | Michael Kors Fringe Hem Tank Top | Tsumori Chisato Fringed Poncho | Sam Edelman Fringe Detailing Boots | MGSM Fringed Paisley Blouse
Yesterday, we filled you in on the huge trend of “Architectural Neutrals” and today we are adding in the colorful counterparts. Three more color stories emanating from the fashion capitals include an indigo, denim and chambray story, bold blues and greens and a warm, bold orange and pink story. Read on for major color inspiration for your fall wardrobe!
The Blues are Cooler than ever with Denim, Chambray and Inky blue/black trending for Fall! Great layered head to toe for day and evening, the Blues are excellent “neutral” choices to pair with black and a rainbow of colors. Saturated to faded, Blue continues to impact fashion across many markets!

The Blue Greens offer an oasis from the broad strokes of the color wheel this season. Think Bottle Green to Teal…mint to aqua & Turquoise to Jade…moss to olive…with punctuations from acid lime to neon green! Designed to work together, this range is often mixed with indigo & denim to charcoal & black in patterns and layers. Youthful yet elegant this cool pool of color is always refreshingly right!

Mendel Cap Sleeve Leather-Inset Day Dress | Mr. and Mrs. Italy Fur-Lined Canvas Mini Parka | Dolce & Gabbana Tweed Double-Breasted Dress | Manolo Blahnik Okkato Pumps | Acne Studios Convertible Wrap Alan Cardigan | Jean-Michel Cazabat Olbia Sandals | Oscar de la Renta Asymmetrical Scarf-Hem Dress | Monique Lhullier Sleeveless Floral Embellished Shift Dress | Milly Butterfly Sleeve Stretch Silk Dress
Fall heats up with a myriad of hot color…saturated to pastel versions of pink, orange, red and violet; assort for head to toe femininity and energized style. Colorblocking and Layering encourage new mixes within this range. Furry and fluffed to matte and silky fabrics warm up to cool fall weather in these hot tones.

Taken from timeless structures in European cities, these soothing, often faded neutrals layer over and twin with one another conveying a subtle, sophisticated mode of dress perfect for urbanites who prefer to not always were black. Think cement, putty, limestone, quartz, granite, slate and sandstone as inspirational elements for monochromatic dressing with a softer side!

My tour of the fashion capitals is always a way for me to get inspiration for the line and to recharge the creative battery! The following are highlights from my trip…from packing my carry-on bag (for ten days I carry the weekender!) to suggestions of where to eat, stay and most importantly shop! Europe is still a boutique culture, so window shopping is a sport and each of the fashion capitals offers its own version of what is new as well as what are the mainstays of fashionable women in the street!
I like a “uniform” when I travel (as well as in my everyday world). I stick with Black and Navy (yes I mix the dynamic duo) and take only items that fit well, offer comfort and flexibility from day to night! Layering is key…light weight & versatile! Here are some of my picks (I take multiples of my favorites):
100% Cotton, Short sleeved Petit Bateau Crew Neck T-shirts (also available in long sleeves)
AG Indigo or white Legging, Ankle Jeans
Aspesi Jackets and Vests (men’s and women’s lines)
Calypso black, oversized cashmere scarf/wrap…on the plane and around the neck or shoulders in the cool mornings and evenings!
Stubbs and Wooten Velvet Slipper…day into night! Skull & Crossbones of course!
Scout Crown Jewels, Packin’ Heat and 3-Way bags for toiletries/jewelry/small supplies
Halsbrook Black Resin Beaded Neck…evening pop!
Prada Biker Boot…TIP: wear these on the plane to avoid bulk in your suitcase!
Scout Weekender (I fold up a second weekender in the bottom of my carry-on bag for goodies I find on my travels!)
Director Nancy Meyers is a fabulously gifted set location picker—a true genius, in our humble opinions. To commemorate her new movie, “The Intern,” hitting theaters today, the SCOUT team has compiled a list of their favorite homes and interiors from a few of her films. Not familiar? Get. With. It.
These movies are the pinnacle of #housegoals. True greatness has been achieved within many styles—from Iris’ cozy “Rosehill Cottage” to Amanda’s modern chic LA home. Nancy Meyers knows works these idyllic homes into her films with ease. To be honest, I am not really sure how the Housesitter snuck into the mix. But, let’s not forget the main purpose of this post: beautiful homes. In no particular order of greatness, we present some house porn to whet your palette for Nancy’s new release.

FYI – Deb has been in Europe and next week we’re getting the download on the blog! Have a great weekend. Check us out on Monday!
Never out of style but fabulously IN STYLE this season, leopard is an iconic pattern designed to punctuate solid ensembles or mix with other patterns creating a boho/classic look. Leopard HEAD TO TOE is directional and leopard accents to ensembles or interiors always add a bit of exotic flair.
From the iconic looks of Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis and Gene Tierney, to the runways of Christian Siriano and The Row, leopard is a stranger to no era. With the power to pop and also act as a neutral, it is no wonder that leopard has found its way into so many closets.
Need some leopard wardrobe inspiration for fall? We’ve pulled together some of the best of the best of leopard style.
In honor of Nancy Meyer’s new movie, The Intern, being released tomorrow we have a special tribute to her beautiful movie locations coming up on the blog! Check back tomorrow!
